This past week, I got to follow along one of the NFL’s biggest superstars for an up close and personal look into his life in the days leading up to the Super Bowl.
What I found is what I already knew: Derrick Henry is one of the most genuine people you will find. He cares a lot about his work. About his family. About his goals. And especially about his people.
He tries to learn your name. He thanks the security guards. He jokes with the waiters. He tips generously. He often would even check to make sure I was enjoying myself and had what I needed. I couldn't help but think, I am here for YOU!
There were a lot of business commitments for him in this week. But even with an insanely busy schedule, he always made sure that when he was talking to you, he was present. Meeting after meeting, interview after interview, he’d never let you know how long his days were and always did his best to stop for photos with fans.
Hundreds of players and partners are in town during the week leading up to the Super Bowl, but Derrick never acted too busy for people. He had representation coordinating his schedule, and even though it was impossible to fulfill all asks, he was fully invested in what he was able to commit to – because how you do one thing, is how you do everything.
Derrick mentioned many times that he’s ready for football. He is not satisfied with himself or the way the season finished, and after seeing the motivation and drive of one of the hardest working and most caring people in the NFL, I can promise you, The King is coming in ’22.
